Word on the street | Fashion for June 2016
This month we look at Bo & Luca’s modern approach to wedding apparel, the Hazard Gallery founders’ new retail space, and ‘Pink Beach’ collection by Adidas.
Love at first sight
Australian bridal-wear studio Bo & Luca now has a South African outpost. Combining a modern approach to wedding apparel with traditional craftsmanship techniques gives the contemporary bride the best of both worlds. Founder and self-professed detail fanatic Shannon Pittman started the company after seeing a gap for unique custom gowns to suit free-spirited women. Visit the Cape Town showroom for a consultation or browse the collections online.
The Cosmopolitan life
Hazard Gallery founders Jonathan Freemantle and Daniel Liebmann are launching an exciting new luxury retail and lifestyle space in the exquisite old Cosmopolitan hotel in Maboneng. The pair, after being repeatedly approached to curate product, found themselves wanting to expand their brand into a larger space, across fashion and lifestyle. The Cosmopolitan concept was born as a place for the two to house beautiful design together with art in the context of unique heritage architecture. Expect luxury boutiques, a gourmet restaurant and the original Lion bar, with a sculpture garden outside.
Everything Pharrell Williams touches turns to sold. And he’s applied his influence and creative spirit to Adidas Originals’ latest collection, with a colourful and dreamy wardrobe called ‘Pink Beach’. Inspired by a sunny island spirit and the ‘frequency of love’, this collection is feelgood fashion at its most fun. Available at Adidas stores, Line Area 3 and Superbalist.
