Word on the street | Food and wine for July 2016
This month we look at the new Shortmarket Club in Cape Town, as well as Veuve Clicquot’s limited-edition Arrow case designs.

Luke Dale-Roberts of The Test Kitchen fame has partnered with his wife Sandalene Dale-Roberts, his top chef Wesley Randles and manager Simon Widdison in a new dining venue off Bree Street. Shortmarket Club, housed in a heritage building and designed with a feel of old-world grandeur, will be headed up by Wesley Randles, who has worked side by side with Luke since the early days of The Test Kitchen. He will present a menu inspired by the classics (in keeping with the design of the space). The eatery will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Travel is at the heart of Veuve Clicquot and it celebrates this with the limited-edition Arrow, a chic metal case designed to hold one 750ml Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label bottle. There are 29 different boxes featuring destinations from Kyoto to Cape Town, each with the distance in kilometres from Reims (Veuve Clicquot’s HQ). Assemble a themed case of three for the ultimate gift. Available from August from leading retailers.
